You Don’t Reward Generations
Millennials are now the largest generation in the US workforce and will certainly shape the American workplace for the next 30 years. They have been studied by sociologist, marketers, management consultants and many others for years now to divine their attitudes, habits and motivations. The Millennial generation has been researched, dissected and analyzed to the point of exhaustion just to get a general understanding of the group. But when it comes to engaging people you need to focus on individuals.
Hinda’s own Jim Valenti and Raul Garcia understand how to get people’s attention with inspiring awards. Valenti and Garcia are key leaders in Hinda’s Merchandising area. Earlier in the year, they put together an article for Sales and Marketing Management Magazine called “You Don’t Reward a Generation” offering insights and perspectives on the important factors to consider when you’re trying to encourage improved performance with sales incentive and recognition programs.
Spoiler alert...Valenti and Garcia tell us when it comes to rewards, a person’s life stage actually dictates what drives them.
