Consumer Electronics Show Wraps Up in Vegas

The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show wrapped up last week. This year over 188,000 people attended, including more than 63,000 visitors from outside the U.S. More than 4,500 exhibitors showcased the latest tech innovations for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies.

Among the attendees was a contingent of Hinda merchandisers looking for the newest innovations to capture the imagination of our participants. “CES is the biggest consumer technology show of the year and an absolute must for us to attend,” says Hinda Director of Merchandise, Jim Valenti. “Our program participants are always looking for the latest and greatest products, CES helps us identify the hottest innovations to make sure we have them available right away.”

Hinda Associate Buyer, Ana Tovar attended the show and found an overriding theme this year was unquestionably artificial intelligence. Manufacturers are incorporating AI into virtually all of the products in one way or another. AI technology is showing up in speakers, headphones, appliances, televisions, security system and more. It’s covering every part of your living space and revolutionizing the smart homes.

While Hinda’s selection already includes many products with AI, we continue to investigate evolving technologies that appeal to program participants including those with new Bluetooth 5.0, true wireless headphones, more voice command functionality through Siri, Google Chrome and Alexa as well as the latest wearables.

One of the coolest things our team found was a tablet that folds into a cell phone. This dual or multi-function approach could be a huge game changer as major brands jump on that “foldable” technology to expand their market reach.

Here’s just a few of the pictures we captured at this year’s CES.
