Are You Really a Good Listener?

You may think you’re a good listener if you stay silent while others are talking, nod your head and repeat back, word for word, important points. This has been standard management advice for decades. Unfortunately, these actions can leave the speaker feeling unheard or even dismissed.

To be a good listener, you need to do more than passively absorb information like a sponge. You need to be like a trampoline, giving the speaker’s thoughts height, acceleration, energy and amplification.
