Celebrate Earth Day 2021

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead

April 22nd will be the 51st anniversary of Earth Day. On this day, people worldwide come together to participate in activities that support environmental protection and restoration. While most companies would typically plan office-wide initiatives for Earth Day, plans could change this year because of the ongoing pandemic.

If you or the majority of your employees are still working remotely, here are some activities that will allow you to still honor this very important day.

As nicer weather approaches, it’s the perfect time to start a compost pile in your backyard. Ditch the store-bought fertilizer and recycle egg shells, food scraps, and coffee grounds to provide your garden with essential nutrients.

If your home office or workstation has natural light, take full advantage and turn off the lights in the room. Something as simple as flipping a switch can cut down on electricity use and make a big difference.

Spring weather calls for daily walks around the neighborhood. These walks are a good opportunity to pick up any bottles, plastics and other trash you spot on the streets and discard them appropriately.

It’s up to us to adopt habits that make the Earth a better and sustainable place for the future. Celebrate Earth Day by participating in these activities or visiting the official Earth Day website for more ideas.
