Engaging Your Remote Employees
As COVID-19 cases continue rising across the United States, the future of employees and workplaces is still heavy on people’s minds. Just this week, tech giant Google announced they would allow employees to continue working from home through at least July 2021. This announcement signals that the company expects the pandemic and its effects to last much longer than we all thought initially.
If companies decide to follow Google’s plan, what does this mean for the future and success of remote employees? In an office environment, employees experience valuable face-to-face communication with coworkers and clients – a feature the home office lacks. Without this source of engagement, remote employees can feel as though they and their work are not being recognized as it once was in an office environment.
While recognition is always important for the success of an employee and company, it’s especially crucial during a pandemic when employees could be experiencing their own mental, physical and financial difficulties. Now is the time to incorporate new strategies to motivate and support your employees who might be away from the office for much longer than expected.
