Recognition is important. For employees, workplace recognition is more just a pat on the back but can be crucially important to their happiness. People who don’t feel appreciated are more likely to look for a new job in an organization that does recognize their people. In fact, companies with recognition programs in place experience 31% lower voluntary turnover.
Managers often find recognizing employees challenging. Few are ever trained on using recognition to show appreciation or even what to recognize.
